Breaking Barries, Mental Health in the African American Community African Americans face significant mental health challenges, experiencing 20% higher psychological distress compared to white adults. Despite this disparity, only one in three African Americans receive mental health treatment when needed. These statistics reflect complex barriers rooted in historical trauma, systemic inequities, and cultural factors that continue to impact access to care. This presentation explores these challenges and proposes actionable solutions to improve mental health outcomes in the African American community.
